WAM was engaged as the project BIM manager, with the primary responsibility of ensuring BIM use goals and aspirations as set out in the BIM brief were met throughout the design and construction phases.
Seamless collaboration
To ensure Te Pae represented the very best global thinking, the design team leveraged expertise across three countries and more than 10 studios. To coordinate this global effort, our team facilitated and managed a cloud-based federated model to provide a single source of truth and facilitate seamless design team collaboration, and real time design and model updates.
Early contractor engagement
The project featured heavy early contractor involvement (ECI). The development of our integrated BIM model allowed contractors to engage with the BIM framework and understand the building in 3D ahead of contractual engagement. This was critical to planning the delivery of a building as complex as a convention centre with complex structure and servicing demands.
Coordination
As the project BIM manager, our team facilitated the alignment of consultant inputs, drove coordination, audited models, undertook clash detection, and coordinated and validated the federated models. AM/FM data was also integrated into the model.
The project is a testament to the team’s ability to create a functional convention centre that remains deeply anchored within its place, offering an immersive experience for all who enter.
