Supplier Code of Conduct

This Supplier Code of Conduct (Code) sets out Warren and Mahoney’s (referred to as we, us or our in this document) expectations of our suppliers to act ethically, sustainably, legally and safely. 

Suppliers are expected to make their subcontractors aware of this Code and use reasonable endeavours to ensure that their subcontractors take steps to comply.

Ethical business

We expect our suppliers to:

  • behave with integrity, not engage in any form of corruption, and maintain transparency of their ethical policies, practices and impacts,
  • comply with all laws, regulations, and ethical standards of New Zealand and Australia (as relevant to the supplier’s operations) and any other countries in which they operate.

Labour and human rights

We expect our suppliers to:

  • uphold international human rights standards (including but not limited to human rights, discrimination, equal opportunities, working hours, child labour standards and modern slavery legislation) with respect to all employees, agents, and sub-contractors,
  • comply with all applicable local employment legislation and ensure work performed is based on a recognised employment relationship established through applicable law and practice,
  • review supply chains for evidence of actual or any high risk of modern slavery or worker exploitation practices and take steps to ensure such practices are eliminated from the supply chain.

Corporate social responsibility

We encourage our suppliers to be good corporate citizens and contribute positively to their communities, including:

  • demonstrating awareness of their local social impact and actively engaging with local communities,
  • considering opportunities to support diverse groups, including engaging businesses owned by Māori, Pasifika and/or First Nations people and people with disabilities.

Health, safety and security

We expect our suppliers to:

  • comply with workplace health and safety laws and regulations and maintain and provide a physically and psychologically safe and secure work environment for employees, visitors and third parties (including Warren and Mahoney employees where relevant),
  • understand the health and safety risks they manage and how effective their controls and systems are in managing these, notifying us immediately in the event of a health and safety incident that is relevant to the safety of Warren and Mahoney’s employees, and undertaking regular reviews of the suppliers’ health and safety policies and practices,
  • understand the risks they manage and how effective their controls and systems are in managing risks, especially those relating to cyber security, including utilising up to date technologies, processes and procedures, notifying us immediately in the event of a security vulnerability or incident that may affect their services to us or our data, and undertaking rigorous reviews of cyber security strategies, policies and practices.

Environmental sustainability

We expect our suppliers to:

  • comply with all applicable national and international environmental legislation, regulations, policies and environmentally responsible business practices,
  • work to improve their environmental sustainability and reduce their environmental impacts,
  • support our status as certified Toitū net carbonzero architectural practice by aligning with our values and by actively attempting to reduce our environmental impact over time for internal operations and across supply chains.
