Beyond banking
The concept engages the wider community by sharing facilities to encourage financial awareness, engagement and collaboration, as well as fostering partnerships with local businesses. The space includes environments for seminars, co-working zones and pop-ups to reflect a community-centric environment.
Dynamic support and prototyping
The ground floor functions as a smart store, a technology-enabled transactional environment. Rather than store tellers, roaming hosts act as concierge to assist customers with self-service transactions and to direct them to the appropriate specialists for more complex financial transactions. A test-and-learn zone act as a testing environment to prototype new products that will impact wider store network.
People make the product
As with all designed experiences, it’s the people who make the product. Recruitment of the right people was instrumental to the concept. Staff were trained with a superior knowledge in educating customers to deliver on the stores purpose of moving beyond transactional banking. In-house hospitality is also provided through the Wise Foundation Barista Program, which helps people seeking asylum to gain work experience.
The branch was a working demonstration of NAB’s vision for integrated customer service. The design is all about making it easier for Australians to have all their financial needs met in the one location.
