It’s been proven that girls who stay in sport through adolescence emerge more confident, more resilient and more likely to branch into leadership roles. So when the College approached us about a new sports facility, we saw its potential as a true legacy project – not just for its sporting amenity, but as a key enabler for students and for the school’s cultural and social fabric.
Drawing on pedagogical principles, we designed the facility as a real-world learning tool, with teaching spaces and opportunities to support subject curricula. Connections to the rest of the campus via entrances and circulation paths, and clear views into the building, are designed to spark curiosity and exploration.
If you can keep girls in sport between the ages of 10 and 16, some amazing things can happen.
Providing function spaces make the centre a valuable social amenity, broadening the range of on-campus activity and strengthening relationships with the wider community. Offering a whole-of-student experience, the facility is key to the College’s strategy to attract outstanding talent across all areas of excellence.
