Flock Hill Cabin Visualisation

Storm clouds roll quietly by on the horizon, the silence interrupted only by the quiet sighing of the tussocked plains. Distant pines move rhythmically, stretching for a sky framed by peaks. The mystery of the natural world vibrates in climate and scale. Smoke clings to a passing breeze as it yawns its way skyward. The dawn chorus echoes in the valley as the day begins anew. The original inhabitants now share their home with a subtle architectural imprint.

This piece was developed taking a highly collaborative approach, utilising a methodology characterised by openness between designers and visualisers. It began with determining creative direction, the essence of the message. Simplicity of composition to imbue a sense of grace and peace enabled the protagonist – the landscape - to take centre stage.

Making a hero of the landscape allowed the interior spaces to be unveiled as intimate moments staged against the grandeur of the natural world. This was revealed through the creative direction by focusing on the highly textural material palette within spatial volumes that were elemental in their qualities. The crackling fire, the just-discarded blanket, the gently fluttering curtain – these were all selected to deliver on a narrative of calmness, of comfort and of immersion in the moment.
