The Lithgow Street Development will transform the historic Schweppes Cordial Factory in Abbotsford into a vibrant build-to-rent community. The design embraces the site’s rich industrial heritage, retaining and celebrating key 19th-century elements, including the iconic chimney stack and the 1927 Lithgow Street heritage building as defining features of the new neighbourhood.
Once complete, this project will be one of Australia’s largest mass timber residential buildings, setting a new benchmark for low-carbon construction and sustainable urban living.
This project reflects MODEL’s commitment to pioneering large-scale Passivhaus standards, ensuring that every apartment meets the highest benchmarks for energy efficiency and comfort alongside 6-Star Green Star, 9-Star NatHERS and 50% reductions in embodied carbon make this another first of its kind.
