Alex Wessling joins WAM as Principal, while Sarah Slattery joins as Associate Principal. The appointments signal Warren and Mahoney's commitment to building a senior leadership team to deliver complex, large-scale projects while developing the next generation of design talent.
Managing Director, John Coop, says the appointments represent a deliberate investment in the studio's long-term direction.
"Since opening our Sydney studio in 2013, we've been focused on building an exceptional team dedicated to consistently delivering outstanding work," he said.
"Alex and Sarah add tremendous depth to our leadership team and broader studio. Together they bring extensive experience across sectors that are central to our ambitions in Australia and they strengthen our senior team even further.
"This is a significant moment for our Sydney studio, and I'm genuinely excited to see what we achieve together in the years ahead."
Alex Wessling brings more than two decades of experience delivering complex projects across the defence, education, health and mixed-use sectors. Most recently a Director at HDR, she has built a distinguished career on a reputation for seamlessly guiding projects from concept design through to construction.
In Australia, Alex has made a significant mark across the higher education and defence sectors, from the internationally recognised Western Sydney University Bankstown City Campus and the landmark Factory of the Future to major defence and health infrastructure. Other notable projects include Australian Defence Force accommodation in Darwin and the University of Canberra Public Hospital.
Sarah Slattery brings deep expertise in the sports and community sector developed across Australia and the United States. Most recently Studio Lead - Design at AJC Architects, Sarah led a range of complex, socially significant projects, including the Galuwa Recreation Centre in partnership with Lane Cove Council.
