The Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Design Awards were first established in the mid-seventies. The awards showcase excellence in graphic, spatial, product, interactive and motion design. More than a thousand entries were submitted this year.
The judges praised Waterview Connection for setting a new level of aspiration for future infrastructure projects in the transport sector.
“The design proves just how emotionally strong design can be, evoking many feelings. It is of the utmost importance to set the highest possible standards for the infrastructure the country builds for us.
The form and proportion of this project as well as the technical resolution create a national level of aspiration for future infrastructure in the transport sector.
This project has and will continue to make a huge impact on Auckland and everyone that uses it, setting standards for public space of permanence and longevity."
Warren and Mahoney’s Managing Director John Coop applauded all who were involved in delivering the winning projects.
"We are incredibly proud to have been honoured across such a diverse range of categories and projects. These awards inspire conversation about the importance of delivering exceptional built outcomes for both our clients and our communities."
