Warren and Mahoney has received three awards at this year’s New Zealand Architecture Awards across the planning and urban design, commercial and interior architecture categories.

The winners were announced on Friday 9th November at an event held at Te Papa in Wellington organised by the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA).

Warren and Mahoney received an award in the Interior Architecture category for the Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct, the largest combined justice and emergency services facility in Australasia.

Delivered in association with Cox Architecture and Opus Architecture, the jury highlighted the openness and transparency reflected in the design of the Precinct, saying, “the building exhibits appropriate gravitas, but seriousness is leavened with serenity through material and colour palettes which introduce warmth and legibility to a scene of potentially fraught encounters”.

Warren and Mahoney also received an award in the Planning and Urban Design category for the Waterview Connection. Delivered in partnership with Boffa Miskell and the Well-Connected Alliance, the motorway project completed the Auckland network’s Western Ring Route.

The jury described the Waterview Connection as “a qualitative advance in the design and execution of New Zealand infrastructure projects”.

The practice was also recognised in the Commercial category for its work on Giltrap’s showroom on Great North Road in Auckland. The design of the nine-story office and car showroom focussed on enhancing customer experience and the project has received a 5-star Green Star Design rating.

Warren and Mahoney’s Managing Director John Coop said, “We’re honoured to receive national recognition for these three projects. The awards are testament to our commitment to delivering thoughtful design and exceptional built outcomes for both our clients and our communities.”
