Design revealed for new state-of-the-art integrated regional hospital in Wānaka

May 10, 2024
Warren and Mahoney is proud to be working alongside property investment company Roa, to deliver a state-of-the-art integrated regional hospital to help meet the future health needs of Wānaka’s rapidly growing population.

Comprising a five-level hospital with four operating theatres, imaging services, a 24-hour emergency department and more than 70 inpatient, emergency, and post anesthetic care beds, the new hospital will be at the heart of a broader health precinct which includes four new purpose-built offices for allied medical services such as consulting and treatment rooms, on-site parking, and ground level retail and hospitality opening out onto public pedestrian spaces.

Warren and Mahoney was engaged to design the hospital and surrounding health precinct at Three Parks, east of Wānaka township. Cutting-edge sustainability principles have been a key focus, with the aim of achieving NZ Green Building Council 6-star Green Star Communities rating on completion, in line with Roa’s commitment to delivering the very best outcomes for Wānaka's future.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Roa on this significant masterplan in Wānaka,” says WAM Project Principal Jonathan Coote.

“This project puts people-centred design squarely at the forefront. Included in the design is certified sustainable outcomes in the urban realm, coupled with targeted 6 Star Greenstar certified mass timber mixed-use buildings and healthcare facilities, and a series of laneways with hospitality and retail offerings. We're excited to be part of the team to deliver this world-class sustainable development in the heart of Wānaka.”

The resource consent application process has begun with the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
