Sophie's addition strengthens the firm’s expanding landscape architecture team at a time when national discussions and attention on civic infrastructure design and delivery are at the forefront.
The team now includes seven dedicated landscape architects. In partnership with the firm’s architecture, interior design and urban design teams, the practice is seeking to help navigate change and drive progress through design that is responsive to unique character of place.
Sophie’s appointment strengthens this approach, positioning the practice to take on the most challenging civic projects and deliver spaces that help unlock some of the biggest challenges facing our communities and cities.
With over 16 years’ of industry experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge across a wide range of projects locally and globally, from large-scale public realm initiatives, transport-led and waterfront developments and urban streetscapes, to playspaces, residential housing developments and masterplanning.
"As a Wellingtonian, I’m excited to take on this role at such a pivotal moment," says Sophie.
"The opportunity to contribute to a city undergoing important change, while working with a talented, integrated design team, allows us to think beyond the conventional. We’re committed to delivering regenerative, inclusive, and innovative public spaces across the motu.”
Michael Hawes, WAM’s landscape architecture sector lead, says: "Sophie’s deep passion for community-focused projects, combined with her extensive experience taking complex designs from concept to delivery, will be a significant asset to our team."
“The challenges and opportunities our cities face at present are complex and interconnected. But through partnership and perseverance, we can design better outcomes for our communities. Sophie’s appointment reflects this belief, and our ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients and cities”.
