In April, Warren and Mahoney facilitated a workshop bringing together 50 people from state government, local government and the private sector to imagine what this new type of infrastructure could look like.
“Organising the room into geographical regions to identify possibilities, the magic moment came when everyone brought their ideas back to the giant map and saw how they started to link together - individual aspirations and projects becoming a connected network, a connected city. A city of greenways,” says WAM Principal Thomas Hale.
“This idea provides an aspirational end state that is in our reach, creating opportunities for local communities and economies by unlocking infrastructure corridors for more than they currently provide. When we connect the dots - when we build with and for communities - we create a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient future.”
